This prestigious four part series is produced in association
with the Transport Trust and SCANIA (GB) to celebrate The Centenary of British
Transport and to recognise the efforts of those sometimes eccentric but
magnificent Englishmen and Women who designed, built, salvaged and restored
the historic Road, Rail, Sea and Air transportation that has become a rich
part of our English heritage. Exclusive orginal footage of the restoration
process as well as unique archive footage of the subjects in their heyday
has been prepared and sourced with the assistance of the Trust.
An astonishing collection of transport legends are featured
in these unique historical documentaries - from a War Time Wellington bomber
which for half a century lay at the bottom of Loch Ness until raised from
the depths and restored, to the Special Motor Launch designed and created
by Lawrence of Arabia to save the lives of Allied servicemen. Each story
builds into a fascinating tableau of the last one hundred years of 'moving'
history and, as the story of these great relics is told, the series unlocks
some forgotten secrets in design, technology and restoration.
Travelling Tales is presented with a special guest
appearance by HRH Prince Michael of Kent.
